Alkopol

What is it?
Alkopol is a parody game of Monopoly, the name is a mix between the words Monopoly and Alcohol in Norwegian. It plays much like a normal Monopoly game except currency has been replaced by drinks. If you land on someones square you drink, if you purchase a slot you drink and most of chance cards are intent on making someone drink. Instead of buying out streets you purchase beer breweries instead. Which you can upgrade from a home brewery, to microbrewery and into a brewery.

I don't think Hasbro would be too happy about a their moneybag character used for purposes such as this.

Drinking Games
Whats really great about drinking games is that they have always have a penalty system, if you fail you must drink. Which gives the players an incentive to win or in this case not fail. This is a double edged sword though as certain games don't distribute drinks among all the players in a fair way. So a few select players end up getting drunk, leading them into a downward spiral because they have been drinking and will therefore play worse. Which means they must drink even more. Personally i dislike drinking games that tend to favour unfair distribution. Since the goal was to create a party game, i decided that most drinks would be decided upon the fate of the dice. Removing the players option of giving drinks removes the option for players to rig the game against each other.

This is the go to "jail" icon or in this case the drunk tank.

I think drinking games are sort of taboo because they're associated with excessive drinking. Which is to some extent true because drinking games are about drinking after all, but not all of them are about getting drunk quickly. Games like "Ring of Fire" for example have a more social aspect to it and Beer Pong is actually somewhat of a competitive sport. I think the best drinking games don't focus too much on the drinking itself, but lets you drink at your own pace are some of the best ones. Which is why i settled on the term "a sip" or "sip" for drinks, so that players may drink however much they like. Which makes the game more fair towards lightweights or those drinking heavier liquor.

Make no mistake though, this game is about drinking. It's not for people who drink non-alcholic beverage.

History
\I came up with the idea when i was playing Monopoly and drinking with my friends. What would normally be a 3 hour grind turned into a real baller because we were drinking. Because the fuss from passing someones street and generally playing dirty was outright hilarious. The exaggerated reactions was what made the game fun. So why not combine the two elements into one i thought. This game is one of those terrible ideas that you have when you've been drinking, except i put it to work.

Originally it was supposed to be a free and disposable version. So that anyone could print the game with either 4xA4 or 2xA3 papers and put the game together. Sometime later i found the desire to make a new prototype though with proper material. I found printing to be a little expensive for a drinking game though. Instead i made this prototype from thick cardboard plate, photo paper, glue and some red electric tape. It's in the same size format as the original Monopoly 50x50 and i also polished the design, icons and gameplay.

Legal Issues
Unfortunantly i can't really sell this game since it would border on copyright infringement. I don't think the moneybag figure and the board itself is a problem since it's a parody. The real problem is getting consent to use the beer brands. Since i've ranked them, a few select would end up in a negative light. I could sell the game privately, but the production cost is too high and it's not really worth the time or effort.
